The Head of Human Resources is a crucial and strategic role in the PDM team, upholding the culture of family values and our core belief of mutual respect for all colleagues. We are looking for a Head of Human Resources that embodies our ethos of being passionate about people.
Our people include our permanent team and, just as highly valued, our seasonal team which in season doubles our PDM family.
Reporting directly to the Managing Directors, you have responsibility for the HR team and all HR functions. With strong leadership and organisation, you will lead and empower the HR Team, balancing this with hands on team working.
You will safeguard the integrity of PDM and its people by ensuring full compliance with UK employment legislation and the Ethical Trade Initiative, and ensuring a fair and supportive environment for all people to flourish in.
You will be responsible for all HR management and compliance including: accurate and up to date policy and practices, recruitment and selection, contracts of employment, induction, employee engagement, coaching, mentoring, reward and benefits, health and wellbeing, learning and development, performance appraisals, discipline, grievance, compliance including SEDEX, and any other HR related activities. This also includes overall responsibility for the payroll system, ensuring accuracy of remuneration, HMRC reporting and compliance.
The management of the onsite living accommodation and the welfare of those residing there is also an important component of the role.
You will be responsible for effective budget and resource allocation.
Timely monitoring and reporting of KPI’s are critical.
You will lead and support the business from a HR perspective and you will champion talent development including and ensuring full delivery of the company Apprenticeship Scheme.
With commercial and business acumen you will work with the senior leadership team reviewing the current needs of the business, implementing changes as required, developing a long-term view of the business structure to meet the strategic needs of the business in the future.
As Head of HR you will be at ease working in a fast paced, hard-working and ever-changing environment where you can deliver at times under pressure, as well as being a great communicator at all levels.
The ideal candidate will be people driven, qualified to CIPD 7 or equivalent with several years of team management, have experience of working within Fresh Produce or chilled/Frozen food manufacturing. Solid current employment law knowledge and proven experience of applying updated legislation to a variety of HR situations is a must. You will be able to show evidence of having a passion for working with people. Essential skills are strong leadership, organisation and an ability to prioritise.
